This is the incredible moment a pensioner and his younger colleague held up four military trucks thought to be carrying nuclear warheads.

Brian Quail, 78, and his colleague Alasdair Ibbotson, 21, brought the convoy to a grinding halt by throwing themselves in front and under the trucks.

The pair flagged them down on a roundabout in Stirling, before Brian crawled underneath a truck while Alasdair lay down in front of them.

Police are seen jumping off motorbikes and running over to the pair, desperately trying to pull them away from the convoy.

Video footage recorded by activists from Stirling University CND shows a queue of traffic building up in the background as officers struggle to remove the protestors.

It is understood that the trucks left the Atomic Weapons Establishment Burghfield near Reading, Berkshire, on Wednesday before heading for Scotland.

They stopped off at an RAF base in Yorkshire overnight, and were on their way to Faslane base when they were stopped in Stirling at 5pm on Thursday.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Two males have been arrested and charged for a breach of the peace after a military convoy was disrupted as it made its way through Stirling on Thursday, September 15.

"Both men, aged 21 and 78, have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal and are expected to appear in court at a later date.

"No other incidents were reported to police in Forth Valley while the convoy moved through the city and surrounding area and we thank the public for their patience and cooperation."
